WinHelp+ v2.20 README.1ST file...
To Install:
UnZip this file to a HD 3 1/2 disk or a subdirectory
on your HD and run setup.exe.
Notes:
I wrote WinHelp+ to make the task of making help files alittle
easier. I hope that it indeed is doing that for you. I wrote
the original help file for version 1.0 in WinWord 2.0 and the
following versions with WinHelp+ 2.x. Needless to say the time was
cut in half. Now v2.20 supports QDHelp v2.0, but you need the
3.1 version of HC.EXE to compile it. 3.0 will not do it for you.
I am currently working on a PRO version of WinHelp+ (Commercial Release)...
The following is a list of some features:
* = already accomplished
? = hopefully will be accomplished
1) * Winhelp+ Pro revolves around an editor. Each topic
will be considered a seperate page. This will make it easier to
keep track, goto, and edit topics.
2) * When you want to insert a link or popuplink,
etc... you highlight the text string and a list of topics will
popup and you simply choose form that list. The commands will
automatically be inserted.
3) * When you want to insert a bitmap, a dialog box
will popup and you choose the bmp by filename. You can view and
edit the bmp right there! And again, WinHelp+ PRO takes care of
the commands, and also inserts the path info into the HPJ file!
4) * Test your jumps right from WinHelp+ PRO!!!! When
you select this command, the text will be reformatted and all
jumps/links will turn red. If you click on that text, you will
automatically jump to the linked page you set up. You can
browse, go back, get a history, etc... just like the
WINHELP.EXE itself without having to compile your file!!!!
5) * Will contain the same ability to use QDHELP.
Matter of fact, you can import QDH files and write QDH files.
Import RTF and write RTF. WinHelp+ PRO will automatically write
your HPJ files and I am currently working on a mapping dbase so
that the user can map the help file.
Now the hopefulls....
1) ? Read and write HELP MAGICIAN files with their help
and permission.
2) ? WYSWYG editor features... This is NOT easy even in C!
3) ? Your suggestions and/or ideas...
Hopefully soon, WinHelp+ and the WinHelp+ PRO will be sold
commercially. But anyone who registers WinHelp+ v2.x will get
all upgrades for my upgrade fee.
